A Letter From Sheri

A heartbreaking story of a young woman failed by the system and those closest to her

Sheri’s life was marked by a series of tragedies, challenges, and adversities. She often overcame deep and intense abuse, only to find herself mired again and again in circumstances beyond her control.

She battled apathetic authority figures, poverty and alienation. Yet, her handwritten letters depict a quiet strength that spills throughout each page.

Sheri’s story tragically ended at the hands of serial killers Charles Ng and Leonard Lake, in a dark and twisted compound located deep in the forests of Wilseyville, California.  Authorities estimate that these prolific killers were responsible for the deaths of up to 25 people, most of them young women.

The scope of these horrific crimes spanned years, and Sheri’s story was submerged beneath a layer of outrage, incredulity and sensationalism.

Now, decades later, Gyant is determined to tell her mother’s story. As she plumbs the depths of mother’s history, and investigates what happened before her birth, it becomes clear to readers that this more than just a story about violence.

A deeply disturbing, involving book - a page-turner that you can't put down.

Compelling, intense, heartbreaking; for anyone with children in their care.

Such a good, down to earth book. And to hear the story actually being told I was a nonstop reading.
