Cheryl asks audiences to consider Okoro’s circumstances and how they play out today. As an advocate for abused and endangered children, Cheryl has worked to shine a light on her mother’s story and on those trapped in situations filled with hopelessness in foster care.
She feels that her mother’s story serves as a valuable reminder that children and teens in the system are vulnerable and need care and support.
Hoping that readers understand what individuals in the system face and how we, as a society, can give them a sense of safety and security, is a main point in many of her keynote speeches.
